Medical assistants are multi-skilled practitioners who perform a wide range of roles in physicians’ offices and other health care settings performing both administrative and clinical duties.


There are two options for preparation for this career at Olympic College The certificate Program is a 4 quarter, full-time program which begins every September and runs for a year. It requires a total of 61 credits. The program concludes with a supervised, unpaid externship in a medical office.


Prerequisites

To begin this program on a full time basis, students need:

  • Accuplacer test scores for Math which place students in MATH 099 or higher.  Alternatively, successful completion of MATH 094 with a grade of 2.0 or higher.
  • Accuplacer test scores for English which place students in ENGL 101.  Alternatively, successful completion of ENGL 099 with a grade of 2.0 or higher.
