Automotive Service Center FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
What kind of work does the Center do? The Automotive Service Center is a full-service repair facility where advanced students in automotive technology, working under the guidance of a master technician, can practice and refine the skills that they will need to be successful technicians. We specialize in preventative maintenance on late-model vehicles, from oil changes to major services, but we also perform specialized diagnostic and repair tasks that align with our core of technical courses. Call the Automotive Service Center for more information.
Is the work guaranteed? Yes, all work performed at the Automotive Service Center is guaranteed.
How long will the work take? The extra steps we take to ensure quality work in a training environment may mean that some repairs take longer than they would in a regular commercial facility, but with advanced scheduling and notification our staff is willing to accommodate almost any customer scheduling needs, including breaking larger requests into multiple, smaller "outpatient" jobs. All costs and expected delivery times are worked out and authorized before any work is begun.
How much will it cost? Depending on what is being done and how soon the work needs to be completed, the Automotive Service Center uses two different rates, both significantly discounted when compared with typical commercial shop rates. For Automotive Service Center work being done by interns the hourly rate is $45, calculated in advance using industry-standard labor guidelines. For work that aligns with courses that are taught each term customers may be asked to leave vehicles a little longer, and the discounted instructional rate is $30 per hour. Refer to our quarterly specials to see the annual cycle of course-related work we perform.
