Student Success and Retention Committee Diversity Assessment

Olympic College was one of several area colleges to participate in developing and piloting the Diversity Assessment Framework.   The pilot was a statewide effort by the SBCTC in collaboration with other higher education councils including the MSSDC.  

Rachel Wellman, Multicultural Services, and Kristy Anderson, Institutional Research, implemented the assessment during spring quarter of 2003.   The results have been compiled and a summary report is available.  

The results of the Diversity Assessment informed many campus initiatives.   The Diversity Advisory Committee used it to help develop recommendations.   The Strategic Planning Workgroups were able to use the results to target specific strategies in areas of diversity.   The assessment has also provided significant data to the Student Success Committee helping them better understand retention issues around students of color which can inform future student success and retention efforts.
