Content Provider Role Definition
The Olympic College website is not maintained centrally (through one office or individual). Our site is maintained by many individuals all over campus with expertise in their individual arenas, while one central office manages the overall site design and experience, as well as a few key pages. This collaborative de-centralized approach allows the individuals who are closest to the information to update their specific areas of responsibility.
However, with so many people involved, it is important for Content Providers to work together, coordinate their efforts, and adhere to the standards, guidelines, policies, and processes designed to maintain the Olympic College website integrity. Working together toward this goal we can help to ensure a positive website experience for our users, and thereby a positive images of Olympic College.
What Do Content Providers Do?
Content Providers are individuals across campus who may or may not have technical knowledge about website design and development. These important individuals are responsible for keeping the information in their areas of responsibility up-to-date and useful to the target audience (primarily current and prospective students, but also including staff, faculty, and local business and community members).
The role of the Content Provider includes the following responsibilities:
- Checking the web pages in their areas of responsibility regularly to ensure content is accurate, current, and in accordance with the website standards and guidelines.
- Make changes or request changes through the Web Content Manager as needed.
- Follow the website policies and processes designed to ensure website integrity and positive user experience.
- Maintain a dialogue with the Web Content Manager surrounding website needs for their areas of responsibility.
- Be listed on in this Web Guide as a contact person for his/her areas of responsibility.
- Respond promptly to inquiries from web users either received directly from the website, or directed to the Content Provider via the Web Content Manager.
