Content Provider Web Guide
Though many contribute to the Olympic College website, readers view the website as a single entity. All Content Providers and others working on the site have a responsibility to not only their individual areas, but also to the website as a whole, and the image it portrays of Olympic College to our community. We all must work together to present a collective experience for the reader.
Consider the website an on-going publication. In this sense, the website, like all other official college publications, is subject to a variety of legal liabilities. There are many website issues that can expose the college to legal issues, including out-dated information such as prices, content that is not made accessible for all users, and copyright infringements.
The policies, standards, and processes defined in this web guide were developed in an attempt to ensure that every reader of the Olympic College website is presented with information that is accurate and accessible, contributing to an overall positive experience with our website and the college.
Target Audience
All Content Providers should keep in mind the audience for whom the website is designed. Our primary audience consists of four main user types: current students, prospective students, employees, and community members, with the student perspective being by far the largest and most income-producing sector of the target audience. Bear this in mind when writing content. Content should be written so that it appeals to the target audience, particularly the student contingent.
Scope of the "Official" Olympic College Website
All "official" Olympic College pages must adhere to the guidelines and standards presented in the web guide. This includes all college programs and services. At this juncture, instructor's personal pages, including class materials, are considered non-official pages and are not required to meet the standards documented here. This is subject to future change. |
