Telephone Tips

  1. If your telephone is only ringing once and then forwarding calls to voicemail, you have inadvertently sent all calls to your voicemail box. If you are in voicemail and you press *3 (star three) it deletes that voice mail. If you are not in voicemail and you press *3, it sends all of your calls directly to voicemail without ringing your phone. To correct this, pick up the receiver and press #3 (pound three) this removes the forward so your phone will ring normally.

  2. If you are working at another desk for an extended period of time and you would like to forward your calls to that location; from your phone press *2 (star two) followed by the extension you wish to have your calls forwarded and hang up the receiver. Your calls are now forwarded to that location. When you are ready to return to your workstation go to your phone, press #2 (pound 2), now all of your calls will come back to the original location.

  3. Long Distance Calls: Enter 8 then the area code and number you are trying to reach. Listen for the dial tone and then enter your 7 digit Scan Access Code.

  4. Sending Faxes: When sending a fax to a local number enter 9 and the number you are faxing When faxing long distance enter 8 and press PAUSE then enter the area code and number press PAUSE then enter your Scan Access Number and press SEND.

NOTE: The Olympic College voicemail system only retains voice messages for 10 (ten) days. If you are planning on being out for an extended period of time, you should change your personal greeting to reflect so. Please write down all critical messages, so as not to lose them after the 10 (ten) day expiration period.

NEVER Unplug, Plug in, or Move Your Telephone, Fax Machine, Printer or Computer . Always contact the help desk at Ext 7600 for assistance. There are three types of jacks: data, digital phone and analog phone. Unless they are labeled, you cannot determine the difference. By plugging a cable into the wrong jack, you run the risk of damaging a circuit card in the PBX telephone system.
