OC Wireless Makes Connecting Easy

The new wireless Hot Spot style portal makes connecting to the Internet possible for any web enabled device in just a few steps

  • Browse for wireless connection
  • Select "OCWireless"
  • Open Web Browser (A warning will appear concerning an untrusted certificate. Click “Continue to this website (not recommended)” The certificate is valid just locally generated. )
  • Enter your OC Username and Password
  • Surf the Web

Connecting with Windows XP Service Pack 2(SP2)

  1. Disable any Firewalls
  2. Click the Start Button
  3. Click Run
  4. In the box type: ncpa.cpl and click OK.
  5. Right click on the wireless network adapter icon and choose Properties.
  6. With Wireless Network Connection Properties open, click on the Wireless Networks Tab
  7. If OCWireless is not in the preferred networks field, click Add and go to step 10.
  8. If OCWireless is in the preferred networks field, Select OCWireless and click Properties
  9. Select the Association tab
  10. Under Network name (SSID) type OCWireless
  11. Under Wireless network key (WEP)
  12. Select the “Data encryption (WEP enabled)” check box
  13. Select “The key is provided for me automatically” check box
  14. Select the Authentication Tab
  15. Check the “Enable IEEE 802.1x authentication for this network” check box
  16. From the “EAP type:” drop down menu select Protected EAP (PEAP)
  17. Click the Properties button.
  18. Clear the “Validate server certificate” check box
  19. On the lower part of the screen, in the “Select Authentication Method:” drop down box select “Secured password (EAP-MSCHAP v2)”
  20. Click Configure button
  21. Clear the check box.
  22. Click OK
  23. Click OK on the Protected EAP Properties window
  24. Click OK on the Wireless network properties window
  25. Click OK on the Wireless Network Connection Properties window
  26. When the bubble pops up in the System Tray (Lower right hand side of the screen) click on the bubble.
  27. Enter username, password and domain, just as if you were logging into the computers in the lab or in your office. (OFFICE Domain for faculty, INSTRUCTION Domain for students)

Connecting with MS Vista

  1. Disable any Firewalls
  2. Click the Start Button
  3. Right click on the network Bolton and choose Properties.
  4. With Network Properties open, click on the Manage Wireless Networks.
  5. In Manage Wireless Networks click “Add”.
  6. Select “Manually create a network profile”
  7. Under Network name (SSID) type OCWireless
  8. Under Wireless network key (802.1x)
  9. Select next
  10. Select “Change connection settings”.
  11. Select “Security” tab
  12. From the “network authentication” drop down menu select Protected EAP (PEAP)
  13. Click the “Settings” button.
  14. Clear the “Validate server certificate” check box
  15. On the lower part of the screen, in the “Select Authentication Method:” drop down box select “Secured password (EAP-MSCHAP v2)”
  16. Click Configure button
  17. Clear the check box.
  18. Click OK
  19. Click OK on the Protected EAP Properties window
  20. Click OK on the Wireless network properties window
  21. Click OK on the Wireless Network Connection Properties window
  22. Restart Computer

  25. Re-enable Firewalls.OC



    Intel ProSet/Wireless Client

1. In task tray double click Intel ProSet Wireless Icon (looks like top half of radar screen)
2. A window will appear. In the available wireless networks section select OCWireless

3. Click configure.
4. In box type the Profile Name you would like. (Or leave it as the default OCWireless)
5. Click Next
6. In the drop down menu Choose the following settings:
o Network Authentication: Open
o Data Encryption: WEP
7. Check the box to “Enable 802.1x”
8. Authentication type LEAP
9. Select: Use the following Username and password
10. Enter your username as you would to log into the lab.
11. Enter the Domain: INSTRUCTION for students OFFICE for Staff/Faculty
12. Enter your password.
13. Confirm your password.
14. Click Next
15. Click Next


 

Macintosh OS X

MAC OS 10.3 or better
1. Click on Airport Icon
2. Select OCWireless
3. On first dropdown menu choose LEAP
4. Enter:
INSTRUCTION\username
password
