Welcome New Olympic College Shelton Students!
7 Steps to complete orientation to advising and registration:
1. Apply for Admissions
Apply online or in person and receive your Student I.D. number
2. Secure Funding -- Get the process started early!

(For Federal Financial Aid and/or Veteran's Benefits this can be a lengthy process)
3. Register to take the Accuplacer assessment for Math and English placement
(transfer students who have already taken Math and/or English classes may not need to take the
Accuplacer)
4. Attend a New Student Advising Session -- group and individual sessions are available
Group Sessions are available during New Student Registration times each quarter.
Call to schedule 432-5400. Allow 2 hours for the orientation and registration
Individual Sessions are ongoing throughout the quarter.
Sessions are available in the OC Shelton Library and Student Services Office.
Let the library staff know you are there to complete the New Student Advising Session.
If a computer is available, they will set you up to complete the New Student Orientation to Advising
(allow 30 minutes to complete the session)
An advising handout and copy of the OC Catalog will be given to you to refer to during the session
and make notes.
A certificate will be given to you upon completion of the session.
Take your certificate to the Shelton Student Services Office to sign up for an advising appointment
5. Registration
If you are planning to take more than one class during the quarter (7 credits or more), sign up for an
advising appointment with the Student Services Office at (360) 432-5400.
Complete your New Student Orientation BEFORE your advising appointment.
Be prepared for your Advising Appointment - bring your Accuplacer scores, unofficial copies of college
transcripts (if applicable), list of classes that you would like to take, and questions you may have
6. Payments
Cashier services open Monday - Thursday 8:30am to 5:00pm. No cashiering services on Friday.
7. Buy Books and attend class!
