Warren Avenue Construction Safety Update - Posted 11/16/2012
The City of Bremerton Public Works Department (Roads Safety Division) is working on two Warren Avenue roadway improvements. These two projects are happening concurrently, one at the OC entrance at Warren and 16th avenue, the other at Warren and 13th avenue. Both construction sites require constriction of traffic flow, revision of turning lanes and bring some concerns. Traffic flow will be slowed, lanes reduced and increased delays are possible. With lanes restricted, heavier congestion, crews working and heavy equipment there may be some visual distractions and obstructions. Drivers and pedestrians are asked to be extra careful in these areas, and whenever possible use alternate routes or access/exit points.

This is an important notice to students and employees:
The college has recently received reports from three individuals that their vehicles had been broken into and items were stolen. In each case, the suspect made entry to the vehicle by smashing one of the windows and stealing the items left in the vehicle by the owner. Each victim reported that they had left these items in the vehicles, and that the items were in plain sight. Each of these three cases have been handed over to the Bremerton Police Department with the hope of identifying the suspect or suspects, holding them accountable and recovering the stolen property for the victims.
All students/faculty/staff are asked to mitigate the risk of such a break in and theft of personal property by not leaving valuables in vehicles, especially in plain view. If you need to bring valuables to campus, please keep them with you or secure them out of sight in an area such as the locking trunk of a vehicle.
Please report all suspicious activity to Safety and Security at (360)475-7800 immediately, including persons who appear to be peeking into vehicle windows searching for possible items to steal.

This is an information item regarding current criminal activity in Kitsap County.
It has come to our attention that Kitsap County is currently suffering from a string of car thefts. Law officials believe that there is an individual or group in possession of a master key for all Honda vehicles from the 1990s. Since this key will open and run any Honda from that era, we recommend that owners of these vehicles take extra precautions to protect their property. If you own one of these cars, you should keep it locked at all times using a system other than the car’s own locks. A locking gate or garage will provide security if you have that option. If you do not, there are products available where automotive supplies are sold that lock to the steering wheel and render the auto inoperable.

The G-1 Parking Lot has been open for one month. Usage has this lot full to capacity nearly every day. Many users of this parking lot are parking in undesignated areas along curbsides, in driving lanes and along curbs at entrances/exits. This makes parking in, passing through and entering/exiting the lot very hazardous. To improve overall safety, we are having contractors red curb restricted areas and add approximately 25 new parking spaces in the G-1 Lot. As soon as favorable painting weather provides for this work to be done we will make these safety and parking enhancements. At that time, all vehicles parked in areas that are not painted for parking will be cited. A legitimate parking space will have white parking stall markings on both sides or on the front and back of your vehicle. Anyone parked on the red curbs, blocking traffic, walk ways or crosswalks will be cited. Please refrain from parking in these areas, we would prefer not to have to cite any vehicles, but we are required to ensure safety and parking compliance. Thank you.
